Rescue Northwest was founded in 2001 for the
purpose of providing quality rescue equipment and training to fire
departments and other groups in the Inland Northwest. Located
in Spokane, Washington, we have provided technical rescue training
to many agencies locally, and have provided both consulting and
equipment to emergency response agencies nationwide. In recent
years, we have trained rescuers from the following

Jim Thoen
President and Owner
Instructor - Rope,
RIT Rescue, Confined Space, Water, Ice
Jim has served the community for many
years as an EMT, Dive Rescue Specialist, and Firefighter. He is currently
a Senior Firefighter with Spokane County Fire District 9 and conducts
and/or assists with monthly training for
the District’s
Technical Rescue Team in rope, confined space, ice, and shore-based water.
He has developed and conducted Rope Rescue I, II, & III, and
Confined Space Rescue for Washington State Fire Service Training
Region 9. He has also assisted with Rescue Systems I and
Water/Ice Rescue classes for Region 9.

Jim enjoys rock climbing,
skiing, backpacking, and other outdoor pursuits. He is married with four children.

Scott Blystone
Instructor - Confined Space, Rope, Trench Scott has been involved in
the fire service for over twelve years. He is Lead Instructor in
confined space rescue, and routinely assists with and/or conducts training
in rope rescue as well. He also teaches for Region 9. Email Scott at
