Rescue Northwest

Rescue Northwest was founded in 2001 for the purpose of providing quality rescue equipment and training to fire departments and other groups in the Inland Northwest. Located in Spokane, Washington, we have provided technical rescue training to many agencies throughout the Northwest, and have provided both consulting and equipment to emergency response agencies nationwide. 	Jim Thoen President and Owner Instructor - Rope, Confined Space, RIT, Ice Rescue Jim has served the community for many years as an EMT, Dive Rescue Specialist, and Firefighter. He is currently a Senior Firefighter with Spokane County Fire District 9 and conducts and/or assists with monthly training for the District’s Technical Rescue Team in rope, confined space, ice, and shore-based water. He has developed and conducted Rope Rescue I, II, & III, and Confined Space Rescue for Washington Region 9. He has also assisted with Rescue Systems I and Water/Ice Rescue classes for Region 9. Jim enjoys rock climbing, skiing, backpacking, and other outdoor pursuits. He is married with four children. Email Jim at jthoen@rescuenorthwest.com.

	Glen Cassidy Instructor - Rope, Confined Space Glen has been employed by several fire protection agencies over the years and is currently a firefighter and EMT-I with Sandpoint, ID Fire Department. He also teaches technical rescue classes for the State of Idaho. Glen enjoys rock climbing and snowmobiling. He is married with one child.

	Nathan Jeffries Instructor - Confined Space, Rope Nathan has served the community for many years as a Firefighter and EMT. He is a Senior Firefighter with Spokane County Fire District 9 and member of the District’s Technical Rescue Team. Nathan holds Instructor I and II, and instructs for Washington Region 9 recruit school. Nathan enjoys boating and water skiing in his free time (summer months only)!

	Matt Turner Instructor - Rope Matt is also a Senior Firefighter with Spokane County Fire District 9 and Team Leader of the District’s Technical Rescue Team. Matt's also an instructor in building collapse rescue. Matt enjoys martial arts and fantasy football. He is married with two children.
